Maastricht: International Appeal with a Burgundian Soul

Maastricht Municipality will once again participate in Expo Real in Munich from Monday 5 October to Wednesday 7 October.

Located in the heart of Europe, Maastricht combines international connectivity, economic dynamism and an exceptional quality of life. With direct access to the Euregion, major European markets and five international airports, the city offers a strategic business location for companies, investors and highly skilled professionals. At the same time, Maastricht stands out for its historic character, high-quality living environment and the joie de vivre of its residents.

International Talent and Innovation Power

Maastricht’s international character is strengthened by Maastricht University, international institutions and a diverse workforce. With more than 14,000 businesses and the leading Brightlands Maastricht Health Campus, the city has developed into a centre for knowledge-driven innovation. Here, companies, researchers, entrepreneurs and public authorities work together on solutions that contribute to economic growth and societal impact. It is no coincidence that Brightlands Limburg is ranked among the world’s seven most innovative regions.

Maastricht Railway Zone: Building for the Future

One of the most significant urban development areas in the Netherlands is the Maastricht Railway Zone (Spoorzone Maastricht). With approximately 8,000 new homes and the status of a National Large-Scale Housing Development Area, the district plays a key role in the Limburg Central urbanisation strategy. The development provides a strong impetus for housing, employment and accessibility, creating attractive opportunities for investors, developers and real estate partners.

Featured Tender: Limmel aan de Maas

On the former Trega Zinkwit site, Limmel aan de Maas is taking shape: a sustainable residential environment along the River Meuse, offering a diverse range of homes, high-quality public spaces and a strong focus on quality of life. The tender for the first residential development phase will be launched in autumn 2026, providing market parties with a unique opportunity to contribute to this distinctive area development project.

Investing in Quality and Character

For many years, Maastricht has consistently invested in urban regeneration and spatial quality. Successful developments such as the Green Carpet (Groene Loper) and the transformation of industrial heritage within Belvédère, together with developments around BrightlandsSphinx-Noord and the Maastricht Railway Zone, demonstrate how the city is building sustainable economic growth while maintaining a strong focus on architecture, liveability and long-term value creation.
